US donates Boston Whaler for patrols

The US Navy Southern Command has donated a Boston Whaler for use in coastal patrols. Vice Admiral Edwin Dominicio Rosario received the new boat in the name of the Dominican government. In a brief speech, the Vice Admiral said that the boat would be used in patrols aimed at intercepting illegal boat trips, drug trafficking and other illicit actions in Dominican territorial waters. It will also be used to protect the marine-coastal biodiversity of the country, as reported in El Dia.
