There is still no agreement in the negotiations between employees and employers for a salary increase for workers in the private sector, leading workers’ representatives to call a march for Wednesday June 26 in support of the salary increase they are asking for.
The labor union representatives accepted a proposal of 14% from the employers, but want this to be increased each year. The employers’ representatives turned down this request, leading the dialogue to collapse.
Rafael Abreu, representing the unions, had said that they would only accept a 14% increase if they could receive another raise next year, but the business sector said that pay raises could only be allowed every two years as laid down by the law.
