Work is progressing on the Westin Hotels & Resorts’ new Westin Puntacana, scheduled for opening on 20 December 2013. The hotel will have 204 hotel rooms with a view of Playa Blanca. Tourists arriving at the destination can enjoy kite surfing at Playa Blanca.
Guests will have access to play rounds of golf at La Cana and Corales golf courses within the Puntacana Resort & Hotels complex. The hotel is also only 10 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. Westin is including its Westin Workout and access to the Six Senses Spa among the onsite attractions. Tourists staying at the hotel will be invited to visit the Puntacana Ecological Reserve and other Puntacana Group coastal and environmental programs. These include a catamaran excursion with snorkeling to get to know coral reef and fishing protection programs, and a PADI diving certificate in coral reef restoration. There are also sea-friendly fishing trips and bird watching excursions.
Tourists will also be assisted to play rounds of golf at the eight other courses in the Punta Cana area, and there are four more half-an-hour away in La Romana.
The Westin will be a sister hotel to the Four Points by Sheraton already in operation in Punta Cana Village, a two-minute drive from the Punta Cana International Airport. PUJ receives 62% of all arrivals to the Dominican Republic.
