Dominican week in the UK was a success

The second celebration of Dominican week in the United Kingdom, organized by the British Chamber of Commerce and the Dominican Embassy in Great Britain, has ended successfully with a strengthening of commercial relations between both countries.

The Dominican delegation held several high-level private and public meetings, aimed at securing British investment in the country and increasing exports.

As well as meetings with potential investors, they visited and opened the Stock Exchange, had a round table meeting in the House of Lords, met with delegates from the United Kingdom Foreign Ministry as well as other important meetings to discuss how to make it easier for Dominicans to obtain business visas to travel to Great Britain and finding potential ways of cooperation to provide educational materials for the Dominican Republic. The local delegation highlighted the judicial security offered by the DR as a destination for investment, as well as providing the Dominican products that could increase their presence in the British market, such as sugar, rum, chocolate and cigars.

The DR government and business representatives also visited the Pinewood-Shepperton film studios and the Americas department of the University of London, and attended a trade seminar organized by the Caribbean council.

Dominican Week in the United Kingdom was headed by the Industry and Commerce Minister Jose del Castillo, the director of the Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD), Jean Alain Rodriguez and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations, Jose Manuel Trullos, as well as Kai Schoenhals representing the British Chamber of Commerce and the Dominican ambassador in London Federico Cuello.

The British delegation was headed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Hugo Swire, the Lord Mayor, Roger Gifford, the president of the Caribbean Council, George Foulkes, as well as private sector representatives.
