The Dominican Municipal League (LMD) and the Border Council have agreed to improve 200 kilometers of roads in municipalities located along the border with Haiti.
The initiative was signed by the general secretary of the LMD Johnny Jones and the director general of the Border Council Jose Bejaran. The plan is to work on 50 kilometers each week, at a cost of RD$1,600 each for the repairs.
The LMD will provide fuel, the mayors will provide the staff and pay expenses and the Border Council will provide the light and heavy equipment.
The initiative will start on Thursday, 4 July, in the municipality of Guayubin, in Montecristi province. In total it will cover 54 municipalities and municipal districts located along the border.
The goal is to provide the access roads so that produce can reach the main markets.
