The province of Puerto Plata is the focus of Centro Cuesta Nacional’s promotional efforts this year and next, under the “Pride of My Land” social corporate responsibility program. The program previously has focused on Samana (in the Northeast), Barahona & Pedernales (in the Southwest), La Vega (in the central Dominican Republic) and Puerto Plata (in the North). The program encompasses talks, workshops, photography contests, a 40-minute documentary and publishing of a CD and books with excellent photography on the destinations that will be available on Puerto Plata in 2014.
The program focuses both on its touristic attractions, its people, its point of differentiation, its authentic products and its culture. As part of the program, educational events are held with talks in schools and universities in the months leading to the presentation of the books and video and other promotional articles. The superstore chain turns the event into an opportunity to highlight local products in their stores nationwide, including the presentation of fashion, music and art in tableware collectibles.
