A newly hatched Ridgway hawk chick, “Benjamin,” was welcomed on 25 May into the world on lands protected by the Puntacana Ecological Foundation. His birth has been greeted with unusual joy and enthusiasm by the people responsible for protecting this endangered species.
According to Hoy newspaper, the foundation was able to mate a pair of Hispaniola hawks and produce Benjamin. Their aim is to be able to reintroduce the bird into the ecological system.
