The residents of La Barquita began yesterday morning to return to their homes after the flooding from rising waters of the Ozama River with intense rains brought by the passing of TS Chantal last Wednesday. Hundreds of families sought refuge in shelters and in the houses of family and friends. Community leaders were helping to clean up the houses from mud. But residents were concerned that an announced low pressure trough would bring more flooding waters.
