16-year old injured in brawl at La Chismosa

The talk of the town is the early Sunday, 14 July brawl at the trendy La Chismosa bar/lounge at Av. Gustavo Mejia Ricart. Circulating on the media is a photo of 16-year old, Eduardo Morales, who was seriously injured in a fight, reportedly among those attending celebration of Unibe university graduates.

Dominican law prohibits the admission of a 16-year old to a bar. Another violation is that the bar was still open after the 3am regulatory closing time.

The owners of the bar offered their cooperation and the video of the clash to the authorities to clarify what happened. The bleeding youth was hospitalized at the nearby Abel Gonzalez clinic.

The relatives of Morales say he was victimized. In an online commentary, Battesimo Palamara, cousin of Eduardo Morales, said his cousin did not hit anyone. “He only went to separate me… I was who had the brawl with Pepe Rincon,” he said responding to report in El Nuevo Diario on the incident. Morales is a grandchild of a late brother of the Minister of Foreign Relations Carlos Morales.

The bar had been in the media before after accusations of racial discrimination against possible patrons were made.
