During several raids carried out on Monday, 14 July, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) confiscated 98 packets of cocaine from a network made up of Dominicans and Columbians in Boca Chica on the south coast. During the raids three people were arrested and others fled.
Those arrested and taken to DNCD headquarters were Carlos de la Cruz Beato, 41; Juan Romeo Ogando Montero, aged 46, and Alberto Dominguez Soto, 39.
Jacqueline Lamarche, DNCD spokeswoman said that the group has been bringing large quantities of drugs into ports in the Dominican Republic from South America.
The DNCD also recovered several firearms, passports and cash as well as the drugs.
