Made famous by the computer-animated comedy film, Madagascar (2005), the legendary lemur (catta) creatures can now be seen at the Santo Domingo Zoo. The animals have small bodies, long noses, large eyes and very long tails. While native to Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, the Santo Domingo Zoo’s lemurs were donated by a zoo in Spain. They are fed yoghurt, fruit, brown bread without sugar and green tea!
The lemurs are the latest addition to the 800 species living in the sprawling Santo Domingo Zoo.
