Bionic pitcher Bartolo Colon continues on a roll. His career was left for dead midway through the 2009 season, but he has made an astonishing comeback after undergoing pioneering stem cell surgery on his arm. On Sunday 21 July, the 40-year old pitched a four-hitter in the game in which the Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-0 in California. This is his thirteenth win (only three losses) this season and his third shutout. In another great day, the Dominican right-hander struck out five and walked one. Colon’s ERA is now at 2.52. This is Colon’s sixteenth big league season. His manager says he can’t explain it.
