President Danilo Medina led an inauguration ceremony for the activation of a 1.5-megawatt solar power generator complex at Santiago International Airport yesterday, Tuesday 23 July. The new power supply for the airport received some RD$250 million in funding from private sources. Any surplus energy will be sold to the Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) for distribution on the national electricity grid.
The President also cut the ribbon for a new building that will house the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESA), also built with private funds for the use of the government personnel assigned to watching over the security of the airport.
