In a bid to reduce metal theft, bill passed for exporters

The Chamber of Deputies has passed a bill that regulates the trade and export of metal waste and scrap metal, including copper and aluminum, by implementing a national registry of exporters. The profitability of metal exports has increased theft of metals in the Dominican Republic, causing major losses to individuals, companies and public spaces. The bill also authorizes the export of used batteries.
