Texas swimmer Alex Rodriguez recently won a gold medal competing for the Dominican Republic in the 200-meter breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke at the XXVII CCCAN Swimming Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica, the Rockwall Herald Banner reported from his hometown.
Rodriguez represented the Dominican Republic National Team at the meet, winning the gold with a 200 time of 2:31.32 and the silver with a 100 time of 1:09.21.
He also took fourth place in the 50-meter breaststroke with a 31.80 clocking.
The Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) includes Mexico, Central America, Caribbean countries, Venezuela and Colombia.
Rodriguez has family in the Dominican Republic and competes there when he visits during the summer.
