Asonahores proposes tax incentives for tourist projects in all provinces

The National Association of Hotels & Tourism (Asonahores), the leading tourism industry group, says that the tax exemptions in Law 158-01 should be changed to cover the entire Dominican Republic. The Executive Branch recently sent to Congress a bill where the privileges are extended to new areas in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, and Samana.

Asonahores’s position is that the tax exemptions encompass the entire country. The organization highlights that what needs to be honed is the definition of what makes a tourism project deserve these benefits. “All the provinces of the country have a tourism vocation and by benefiting all the provinces we strengthen the tourism product, diversifying and specializing what we offer,” said the statement sent on occasion of the third amendment the Executive Branch has sent to Congress for new changes to Law 158-01 on Tourism Incentives.
