Daughter of Dominican doctor shot in Miami

The daughter of a Dominican doctor was amongst the victims of the shooting where six people died last Friday, 26 July in a condominium in Hialeah, near Miami.

Priscilla Perez, aged 17, was the daughter of pediatrician Julian Eugenio Perez Tejada, who used to work in the Santo Socorro hospital in Santo Domingo, in the Social Work department.

He described Priscilla, his oldest daughter as a happy girl, creative and intelligent.

Priscilla’s mother, Colombian Merly Niebles and stepfather, Patricio Simono also died during the shootout.

Priscilla Perez was murdered by gunshots on Friday night in her apartment complex on 1485 West 46th Street during an 8-hour dispute between police and a shooter who killed five more people before being shot and killed by police officers.

Pedro Vargas, aged 42 and Cuban by origin, killed six people and kept another two as hostages until a SWAT team arrived, having failed to negotiate with the kidnapper, managed to enter the apartment where he was entrenched and took him down.
