Two officers and an enlisted man assigned to the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) at Las Americas International Airport have been arrested accused by a passenger of the theft of US$9,200 and five cell phones.
The passenger, Eulogio Ignacio Medina Martinez said that when he arrived at the airport three people who said they were members of Interpol took him into a bathroom to investigate his carrying a large amount of dollars.
He then added that inside the bathroom the three men took his US$9,200 and the five cell phones he had brought for members of his family who live here.
He said that after taking the money and the phones the three people left the scene as he started to complain to the airport authorities.
Those detained are Martin Chin Valdez, of the Army, Adalin Medina Florian, of the Air Force, and Franklyn Brito Montero, all assigned to the DNCD at the airport.
The three men were detained following investigations by security force working for Aerodom reviewing surveillance video. The men were spotted by the surveillance cameras when they took the passenger Medina Martinez into the bathroom.
Medina Martinez, accompanied by his lawyer Chemil Bassa presented the complaint to the security manager at the airport, Colonel Luis Manuel Mejia Guerrero.
Medina said that the three military ordered a cleaning employee of the airport to place a sign indicating that the bathroom was out of service when they searched him.
The three men were arrested for investigation.
