Cardnet will not implement 1.95% to 3% increase

The Dominican Cards Consortium (Cardnet) has announced it will revoke the 1.95% to 3% increase to the fee charged to fuel stations affiliated to the National Fuel Distributors Association (Anadegas) for customer credit card payments.

The decision was made after Anadegas member stations refused to take Mastercard, American Express and ATH, all managed by the Cardnet network. The gas stations said they would only accept Visa cards, as a way of making the company reconsider the increase.

Superintendent of Banks Rafael Camilo, together with Rafael Polanco, president of Anadegas and Eduardo del Orbe, executive vice president of Cardnet, made the announcement following a meeting yesterday, Wednesday 31 July.

Polanco described the measure as positive and asked all Anedegas members to reconnect to the Cardnet system.
