Getting ready for 911 system

The government has announced the creation of a commission to oversee National Police procurement for the implementation of the new 911 emergency call system. Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo made the announcement in a meeting yesterday, Wednesday 31 July with the members of the National Commission for the Comprehensive Citizen Security Plan, Minister of Interior and Police Ramon Fadul, Police chief Major General Manuel Castro Castillo, president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) Major General Julio Cesar Souffront, president of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) Major General Juan Brown, and the deputy chief of the National Police Alejandro Dipre, among others. The work to be done includes logistics to coordinate the people needed, acquire vehicles, communications equipment and to create conditions for the system to work flawlessly so that the police can respond to emergencies in the Greater Santo Domingo area.
