The Executive Branch has submitted a US$249.5 million loan proposal to the Senate to finance the construction of the Monte Grande dam in Barahona and rehabilitate the reservoir of the Sabana Yegua dam in Azua, also in the southwest. The loan would be made by the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) and would be repaid at a Libor interest rate over 60 months. The project would be supervised by the National Hydraulic Resources Insitute and implemented by the Brazilian construction conglomerate, Andrade Gutierrez.
