The Police announced the arrest of three generals accused of inappropriate actions in a police raid in Sosua in October 2012, where a German citizen died, several fire arms were confiscated and according to a complaint by the inhabitants of the house, the police officers took RD$60 million and jewelry.
The generals under arrest are former spokesman for the Police Maximo Baez Aybar, who at the time was director of the Criminal Investigation Department (Dicrim) and who was ordered under arrest for 10 days. The others are Pablo Morales Almonte, at the time director of the Northern Region, based in Puerto Plata, who has been placed under arrest for 10 days. Ney Aldrin Bautista, currently director of the Preventive Police, and who at the time of the raid was director of Criminal Intelligence Department (Dintel), was given a verbal warning.
The chief of the Police, Major General Manuel Castro Castillo, said that he would not tolerate any type of incorrect action during his time in office, whatever the rank.
