Yesterday, Monday, 5 August mothers, fathers, health providers and students in Greater Santo Domingo and technicians from the Ministry of Public Health participated in a walk to promote breast feeding and its importance for the healthy development of children.
As part of the activities for Word Breast Feeding Week, they walked from Independence Park to Plaza Espana in the Colonial City.
The head of the National Commission for Breast Feeding, Clavel Sanchez said that they were hoping to make mothers more aware that they should breast feed exclusively until the baby is 6 months old. She stressed this is vital for the child’s development and the family budget.
