After operating on 24 children, a total of 1,265 high-risk surgical procedures were carried out at the Arturo Grullon Children’s Hospital in Santiago between 20 July and 3 August. The children suffered from congenital heart problems and the program developed by the Corazones del Cibao Foundation, the International Children’s Heart Foundation, the Arturo Grullon Children’s Hospital and the Santiago Monumental Rotary Club has repaired them. According to El Caribe, most of the children are from poor families, living in remote communities in the Cibao region.
