United Nations blamed for Haiti cholera outbreak

In a detailed report, researchers from Yale Law School have definitively placed the responsibility for the cholera outbreak in Haiti (and the Dominican Republic as a result of migrant workers) on the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Haiti. In the report filed in today’s El Caribe, Wednesday, 7 August, the researchers lay out the timeline and the breakdowns in recruitment of peacekeepers as well as sanitation facilities, which led to the massive cholera epidemic in Haiti, killing over 8000 people and affecting up to 600,000.
