Damaged traffic light leads to six-vehicle crash at Las Americas Highway

A malfunctioning traffic light at the entrance to the Multimodal Caucedo Port caused a multiple crash on Thursday, 8 August with damage to six vehicles and several people injured. The crash occurred when several vehicles tried to cross at the same time. The injured were taken to the Dr. Dario Contreras trauma hospital on the highway. The crash occurred at 8:15am, a peak hour for traffic in the area. The vehicles affected included a Honda CRV that was totaled with two injured, a Toyota, an Isuzu pick-up and a cargo truck.

El Nacional says that the point between the port and the ITLA is known as “the lost section” because of all the accidents that have occurred there.
