Metro line to San Luis now under construction

The Metro Office (OPRET) reports that the construction of the 12km extension of the present John F. Kennedy line to San Luis, on the eastern side of Santo Domingo will have 11 stations. The line will cost an estimated US$830 million. A tunnel needs to be dug under the Ozama River to link the existing line at with the Av. Venezuela and San Vicente de Paul intersection, at the entrance to Los Tres Brazos. Opret spokesman, engineer Leonel Carrasco said that an overpass would be built at San Vicente de Paul Avenue over the Av. Arturo Fernando de Navarrete to decongest traffic in Los Mina. Carrasco says that if the resources are provided, the construction will be completed prior to the end of the Medina administration.
