President visits cacao producers, farming school

Over the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August, President Danilo Medina visited the Santa Ana sector in the town of Villa Tapia in Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo) province where he promised support for the farmers who belong to the Cibao Cacao Producers Association. The President also visited an agricultural training center where organic farming and organic fertilizer production techniques are taught. The Center for Rural Education and Promotion (Cepror) teaches farming from seventh grade through high school. During his visit to Hermanas Mirabal province, the President met with Dede Mirabal, the only surviving Mirabal sister, three of whom were assassinated during the Trujillo regime. Presidential Minister Jose Ramon Peralta, provincial senator Luis Rene Canaan and Antonio Lopez, the director of the Special Farm Development Fund accompanied the President on this trip.
