Getting ready for the cruises

The Tourist Police (Politur) and Sans Souci Ports have begun to coordinate security for the beginning of the cruise season 2013-2014 this September.

As the number of cruise passengers who will arrive in the port of Santo Domingo is due to increase, both institutions have gone ahead to ensure that actions and strategies are in place as they were last year, but with a larger operating capacity.

Sans Souci Ports was represented at the coordination meeting by its head of security Richard Arias, operations director Amaury Romero, and executive director Jaime Castillo, whilst the Tourist Police was represented by head of intelligence Lieutenant Coronel Rafael Vila, head of human resources Colonel Modesto Eusebio Montilla, supervisor for the Colonial City Colonel Omar Moncion Genao, supervisor for the Oriental Zone Colonel Cristino Adames, and head of operations Lieutenant Colonel Ambiorix Cepeda.

They agreed that there were no negative incidents in Santo Domingo during the last cruise season in 2012-2013 and the Sans Souci Port representatives said that this was thanks to the efficient management by all the security organizations coordinated by the Tourist Police.

According to Politur, more than 600,000 cruise passengers are expected to arrive in the country this year, the highest number for six years.
