Felix Sanchez made the finals yesterday, Tuesday 13 August with a time of 48.10, and Omar Cisneros of Cuba won the heat with time of 47.93. Sanchez and Cisneros went head-to-head in the qualifying event. The 36-year old two-time Olympic gold medal winner will now compete in the finals tomorrow, Thursday 15 August at the Moscow 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics. The race can be followed online at 1pm, Dominican time.
Sanchez says that his toughest competition is from Michael Tinsley of the United States and Jehue Gordon of Trinidad. There are four competitors from the Caribbean in the finals n Felix Sanchez, Jehue Gordon of Trinidad, Javier Culson of Puerto Rico and Omar Cisneros of Cuba. This is Sanchez’s seventh IAAF world games. He won the title in Edmonton 2001 and Paris 2003.
Yesterday, Tuesday 13 August Olympic silver medalist Luguelin Santos won a bronze for the Dominican Republic in the 400 meters dash.
