With more than 7,000 people working on the Metro II line, the Transport Reorganization Office (Opret) says that the work should be finished by 2016. According to Opret deputy director Leonel Carrasco, the Metro II line will provide some 2,000 direct jobs and that some 7,000 people are working to ensure the project is completed on time. He added that more than a thousand smaller companies are working together for the successful conclusion of the job. Carrasco was speaking to reporters yesterday, Tuesday 13 August at the Station 21 construction site at the intersection between Venezuela and San Vicente de Paul avenues in Los Tres Brazos, Santo Domingo East. Carrasco told El Caribe reporters that “in two years we think that the bridge will be finished and we will reach the station at the Mella Highway. The bridge will be located parallel to the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez Bridge (La 17).
