President vetoes Ministry of Armed Forces bill

The Executive Branch has returned the Armed Forces bill to the Senate after rejecting 41 changes. One of these is the change in Art. 46 that stipulated that if a civilian is appointed to head the Armed Forces, then the highest ranking military authority would be the Joint General Commander. The Executive Branch also rejected the proposal for prosecutors to take custody of confiscated military equipment, even if it has been seized by a government security entity. The Executive Branch also rejects the disposition that opens the possibility for a citizen with a case pending in the courts to be admitted to the military forces (Art. 93), as reported in Hoy.
