Following a request from the Public Prosecution service, a National District judge, Luis Carrera Munoz has sent evangelical Pastor Ricci Natanael Rodriguez Salazarto to jail for three months on remand, accused of sexually abusing several minors from his congregation at the Benediction Center in Arroyo Hondo III in Santo Domingo.
The judge ordered that the sentence should be carried out at La Victoria prison, and was imposed following complaints from the mothers of the children.
Neither the mothers nor the children have been identified, but it is known that the minors were part of a church folk dance group, and the Pastor threatened to make them leave the group if they did not do what he wanted.
What began as one complaint subsequently turned into an avalanche of the same type of complaints within days.
