Police chief Manuel Castro Castillo has told reporters that his investigators have discovered a note suspected to have been written by a Haitian employee of the murdered German, Rolf Eric Manfred Kobesch. The victim is believed to have owed the Haitian national money for work done.
According to the Major General, the suspect and the victim apparently had a disagreement, and the Haitian is suspected to have fled after killing his former employer. Castro Castillo told reporters from El Nuevo Diario that a search team is being assembled to find the Haitian and that they are working with Interpol and the Haitian authorities. The 80-year old German’s body was found inside a plastic barrel in an apartment on the second floor of a house on Alejo Martinez Street in Sosua, in Puerto Plata province. The note in poorly written Spanish read: “Yo covro maldit viejo avusador” (I charge, damn abusive old man).
