Mariely Sanchez and Luguelin Santos stayed in Europe after the IAAF World Championships in Moscow last week to compete in the Diamond League Stockholm races. The DN Galan Diamond League is held at the historical Stockholm Olympic Stadium and is regarded as a leading track and field meeting and the largest annual sporting event in Sweden.
Mariely Sanchez will be the first ever Dominican woman to compete in the prestigious Diamond League when she takes the racecourse at the DN Galan in Stockholm, Sweden. She will compete in the women’s 100m dash tomorrow, Thursday 22 August. Her personal best and season best time is 11.24 in the race. In the IAAF World Championships she made it to the semi-finals.
London Olympics silver medalist Luguelin Sanchez is also competing tomorrow, in the men’s 400m dash. He placed third in the event at the IAAF World Championship. His personal best is 44.45 and his season best is 44.52 set in Moscow. In the Stockholm event he will again be competing against La Shawn Merritt and Tony McQuay (USA), gold and silver winners of the event in Moscow and Pavel Maslak Czech Republic), who placed fifth.
