Cosmetic exports up

Dominican cosmetic exports increased by US$46 million in 2012 compared to 2011 thanks to increased demand from buyers in the United States, Cuba and Puerto Rico, according to statistics from the Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD). Exports for 2012 totaled US$83.5 million, as reported in Diario Libre.

The president of the Small and Medium Cosmetics Manufacturers Association, Dinorah Subero Quezada says that the increase came as a result of the signing of new distribution contracts following participation in promotional trade shows in the United States. She says they expect this growth to continue as the sector improves the quality of the products.
