The Dominican Civil Aviation Board (JAC) is asking Curacao-based Dutch Antilles Express Airlines (DAE) to explain the situation since the airline has supposedly collapsed and stranded dozens of passengers at Las Americas International Airport (AILA) since last Saturday, 24 August.
The JAC said that it has not received formal notification of the suspension or cancellation of flights from the airline although some of the passengers said that Customer Services at the airport said that the airline was bankrupt.
JAC has now sent inspectors to the airport and after a meeting DAE executives closed their office at the airport and put a notice on the door that said that their operations were temporarily suspended and that passengers should go to the main office in Santo Domingo for more information and to ask for refunds.
They also said they would publish information in a local newspaper explaining the situation.
