This is the time of the year when savvy travelers head for the Caribbean, with hotel rates and fares to the region the lowest in the year. The weather is hot, but not as hot as in July and August. Forecasters covering the Caribbean say that conditions are exceptionally good this year for development of disturbed weather into hurricanes. But so far so good this year.
September is the peak month for hurricanes in the Caribbean, and has been for the Dominican Republic for almost 100 years.
