In the two months since the new Police chief, Major General Manuel Castro Castillo, took over management of the institution, they have confiscated 105 illegal firearms during raids and another 241 in bars. They have also confiscated 46 homemade weapons and 1,306 knives.
There have been 2,031 arrests of people caught in the act of committing crimes.
The Police have confiscated 1,250 speakers, 737 chairs and 530 hookahs from bars and other entertainment spots, and 35 venues were closed due to noise levels.
