According to unofficial information, Josef Wesolowski, the former papal envoy in the Dominican Republic who is facing an international scandal for alleged sexual abuse of minors within the country, actually left on 4 August via Las Americas airport, flying to Madrid and then on to Rome.
When the scandal broke on 26 August, he was no longer in the country.
Based on the abuse allegations, National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso has announced the launch of an investigation.
