The Minister of Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo, has visited Paraiso in Barahona together with the Director of Tourist Police (Politur) General Amilcar Fernandez Tejada, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jose del Castillo, the Provincial Governor, Pedro Pena Rubio and others and they have announced the beginning of a touristic boulevard for the area.
It is hoped that the construction will put an end to a battle that has been going on between the local inhabitants and foreign investors, due to a local bar that is situated in the only park in the area.
The bar plays loud music until the early hours of the morning causing distress to the tourists and foreign residents who are staying in a residential complex in front of the park.
After receiving complaints about the noise the Director of Politur met with the local authorities and promised to find a solution to the problem. The local inhabitants suggested the idea of a tourist boulevard where they could enjoy themselves without annoying the tourists and foreigners.
The work is expected to start shortly and be finished by early next year. The Minister of Public Works also announced the remodeling of the park, a new sports area and widening of the road where the Boulevard will be built.
