Gildan inaugurates sportswear factory

The leading Canadian apparel company, Gildan formally inaugurated its Las Americas II manufacturing plant at the Las Americas Industrial Park yesterday, Tuesday 10 September. It employs 800 workers. The company has plans to open another factory in San Pedro de Macoris in November. Gildan employs 2,200 people in its Las Americas I and Las Americas II plants.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Jose del Castillo Savinon, Luisa Fernandez, director of the National Council of Export Free Zones, Canadian ambassador Georges Boisse and Luis Manuel Pellerano, president of the Las Americas free zone were present at the event.
