As reported by Nathanael Perez Nero of Diario Libre, the Dominican basketball team captain is game for Al Horford playing with the team. Last week, when he arrived in Santo Domingo from Venezuela where the team won the ticket to play in the FIBA World Games in Spain 2014 Jack Michael Martinez told the press that the team representing the DR at the world games should be the same as the one that won in Venezuela. Al Horford is regarded as the best Dominican basketball player. He had said he would sit out the qualifier but after the team won, he said he would play with the team in Spain.
Perez, following Facebook and Twitter comments, copies Martinez’s comment: “Al, Charlie, Flores, Mejia. They are all welcome. It is their country. I only said what I had to say…”
Meanwhile, chief coach Orlando Antigua said: That is a conversation that we will have to have in the future. We haven’t yet talked about who will be on the team,” he said, in an interview on CDN La Radio. “Al (Horford) is a great player and I really want to have a good team that can compete,” he said, as reported in El Caribe.
