The prosecutor of the Court of Appeals of the National District Jose del Carmen Sepulveda signed the release on a RD$3 million bail of Colombian brothers Huber Osvaldo Buitrago Ruiz and Angel Maria Buitrago Vacca on Wednesday, 18 September. The brothers were in jail in La Vega and San Francisco de Macoris accused of drug trafficking and of membership of a network to launder assets that was dismantled in December. As reported, nevertheless, the two would be rearrested after the National District Forgery Department accused the brothers of holding forged passports and requested preventive custody. Judge Jose Alejandro Vargas ordered three months of preventive custody that will begin once they are released after posting bail.
