The Department of Migration says that companies that employ illegal workers are subject, as of 19 October of this year to the inspections that the agency will be carrying out to check into the legality of company personnel.
The department says the government will begin to apply Law 285-04 and its ruling, including Arts. 131 and 132 that provide for penalties for this situation. The ruling establishes that anyone employing illegal workers will be subject to fines of up to 30 minimum wages. The department says that companies have benefited from a long flexibility period to regularize the status of their employees. He said that for foreigners to work in the country they need to regularize their status.
