The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) says that high temperatures will continue to affect most parts of the country, even though there is a weather front over the west of the country moving slowly to the east/southeast. Once that disappears the late afternoon and early evening rainfall will decrease significantly.
According to reports, over the weekend of 21/22 September, temperatures in Santiago and Puerto Plata were close to 34 degrees Celsius, 34.7 in Villa Vasquez and 36 degrees in Jimani. Combined with 70% humidity and the strength of the sun’s rays, Onamet says that our bodies would be feeling a temperature of around 40 degrees, somewhat higher than the thermometers are showing.
