After qualifying for the World FIBA Games in Spain in 2014, the Dominican national basketball team moved up one place in the FIBA ranking. At the Caracas FIBA qualifying tournament, the team had six victories and four losses. As reported in Diario Libre, the new ranking is the same as the country had in 2006 and 2009. The best ranking the country has ever had was in 2011 after the team was third in the Mar de Plata, Argentina qualifier, when it went up to 25th position after being ranked 30th.
