Nurses call off strike

Nurses began a two-day strike yesterday, Monday 7 October but called it off after the Minister of Public Health, Freddy Hidalgo promised that he would find the funds for wage increases and payment of the incentives they were asking for.

Nurses’ union representative Francisca Peguero said that they had agreed to give the Minister a week to try and find a solution with Congress and the Presidency in the hope of increasing their salaries, and she called on public hospital nurses to return to work.
