Yesterday, Tuesday 8 October, the Spanish flamenco singer, who also has Dominican nationality, Diego El Cigala received the title of Honorary Professor of the Arts Faculty Music School from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in recognition of his charisma, quality and work in the arts over 30 years.
At a ceremony led by the Rector, Mateo Aquino Febrillet, El Cigala said that every time he took the stage all over the world he would now be doing it as an Honorary Professor of the First University of the Americas, founded 475 years ago on 28th of this month.
Aquino Febrillet described El Cigala as someone who had worked to promote culture throughout the world. The singer said it was an honor to receive such a distinction and he accepted it with dignity and pride.
