Discussions underway to help cross-border trade

The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jose del Castillo Savinon says that a mixed private and public sector committee will be traveling to Haiti to find a definitive solution to the trade differences between the two countries. He said that at the moment trade between the two countries is almost back to normal and expressed confidence that a definitive agreement could be reached.

At the same time, the president of the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Ligia Bonetti revealed that previous meetings with business owners and the Haitian authorities had led to some advances for a better flow of investment and taxes going to Haiti.

Castillo Savinon and Bonetti were interviewed at a seminar held yesterday, Tuesday 8 October, to present the results of a study on industrial clusters, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.
